Umpire Developer Training

As you are aware it is intended to introduce a new methodology for observing/developing/coaching our members. Those wishing to carry out this development work should attend a training event on the new process.

The arrangements for these are below

Umpire Developer Training – Sign Up now open

We know that umpires value appropriate support and feedback and, if done well, there will be a positive effect on rates of retention and development. Some umpires might just need someone to turn to if they encounter a tricky situation, some might benefit from long term coaching, and some will need formal ‘observations’ as they seek to progress up the umpiring pathway. We need to increase the number of people carrying out these roles and, as such, the ECB Officiating Department will be running a series of umpire developer training sessions throughout April.

These sessions will be for anyone who wants to support and/or help develop umpires, whether you are already carrying out the role or are thinking about getting involved. Our aim here is to help equip people with some of the skills and knowledge anyone supporting and/or developing umpires needs, with specific focus given to rapport and feedback. We then hope that you will return to your Counties and get involved in some way, whether that be as a mentor to new umpires or as an observer to umpires further up the pathway.

We are pleased to announce the following cities / locations and dates for the training:

Monday 27th March @ Loughborough, Leicestershire

Tuesday 28th March @ Solihull, Warwickshire
